It’s a rare thing, to read a movie review and know, for a fact, if you’re gonna like this movie or not. Movies have existed for over a century now, and with all the changes in techniques and styles, older movies have become irrelevant as a reference for the modern public. Movie critics have become overzealous of their knowledge in cinematic history and forgotten the fact that most people watch movies just to have a good time.

That’s where Critical Film Condition comes in. The reviewers are professionals involved with movies, so we know stuff… And we use it to elaborate a review that has deep, interesting content, but doesn’t deviate from trying to explain (spoiler-free) why a movie is good or bad. You don’t have to know who Eisenstein or de Sicca were to figure out which movie you want to watch later today… You have to know if you like violence, visual effects, philosophy, etc. and that’ll be enough for you to enjoy one of our reviews and watch the movie afterwards. Naturally, since we’re all a bit crazy in the head, our language might not always be for the faint of heart :-)… Just joking. What I mean is: not only do we want you to know if you’re gonna like a movie or not, we want you to have a good time reading our reviews, or reports.

Since Critical Film Condition is written with the user in mind, the blog also opens its doors for people who have watched the reviewed works to comment on our reviews. And we will answer, always, trying to support our ideas, making this review website as democratic as possible.

So, if you agree, or even better, disagree with one of our reviews, don’t forget to express it and share it with other users. Without further ado, here’s the team:

n741290201_3431 Guddy (Karsten Baumgartl): creator, first editor and semi-god of Critical Film Condition, Guddy is mainly known for his modesty… Or maybe not :-). Aside from his work here at CFC, Guddy is a professional screenwriter, and like many, wants to live a life of bourgeoisie among the high-ranks of the film business, writing screenplays for movies that cost a million-gazzilion dollars.

Guddy is half Austrian, half Brazilian, but was born and raised in the metropolis of São Paulo, Brazil, until he moved to Munich, Germany, to develop his screenplays with Renny. He swears that he once was a professional wakeboarder in Brazil, but when one works in this biz, you never know when a YouTube video has been doctored :-(.

Guddy is a Hollywood-whore, loving a big blockbuster every once in awhile (his favorite director is Michael Bay, for chrissakes), and specializes in North- and South-American movies.

Renny (Renato Novakovic): Renny might just be described as a know-it-all who really knows a whole lot. For months now, Renny and Guddy have been battling to see who knows more about movies, and the fierce competition has been tied ever since.

Renny just happens to be a movie director. He was raised in Germany, but his Serbian origins made him an endless well for Eastern European and Asian film culture. He specializes in Asian Cinema here at CFC, but his artistic taste is also for the Hollywoodian blockbusters. Duly noted, his favorite director is David Fincher.

And don’t forget, always, ALWAYS, keep on movie-ing :-)

moto_0063 Andi (Andreas Grunt): Andi is a German scenic arts student and screenwriter who speaks Japanese and loves Animes… There is really no more need for information after an intro like that, but lets talk a little more.

Andi is a FREAK for Asian culture. His understanding of the Japanese language is one thing, but he also happens to be the bible when it comes to Animes, which makes him the perfect addition to the staff. Andi also happens to be a trained actor, so if you see your favorite actor or actress getting “technically” bashed here on CFC, please re-route your angry comments directly to Andi :-).

Kristie (Kristie Fultz): Kristie is German/American, which could make her a gun-wielding librarian or a beer-loving Bible worshipper. Fortunately she is neither. She works as a AVID editor (please, don’t judge – embrace!) and just LOVES movies and American TV. She drinks massive amounts of green tea, is trained in psychotherapy and hopes to be a screenwriter when she grows up.

Kristie not only has the perfect eye for one of the most difficult things to judge in movies, which is editing, she is also our only hope in (literally, since she’s a trained shrink) understanding the female psyche. But seriously, a man’s and a woman’s point of view might completely differ from one another when it comes to movies, and Kristie sheds some light of hope among the three grunts (no pun intended, Andi) in the staff.

Oh yeah, and did I mention she likes green tea? Oh, yeah, I did…
